Compound (Sliding) Miter Saw 315.23740

by John Sindorf
(Bellevue, WA)

I would like to know how to change the blade. I would also like to find an owners manual.

I have not been able to figure out how to lock the spindle so I can take out the bolt. I can immobilize the blade easy enough, but when I put the wrench to the bolt, it slips, turning the motor, but not loosening the bolt.

I haven't been able to find a place to put a spanner, etc.

Any help GREATLY appreciate.

Thanks,

john

Sears Miter Saw Blade Removal
by: Atomic Gunner

Hi John, I just got thru replacing all three motor bearings: 6001, 6002,&6003. and I could not find a motor hold button or slot stop (very sad). On the end of the arbor shaft there is a machined flat that would take 14mm wrench but theres not much room to insert it. You will probably need to use a grinder to make a common thickness 14mm wrench thin enough to fit. This may help though. First the bolt into the arbor is left handed so it must be turned clockwise to remove. second spray some penetrating oil to soak the threads for a day. third the motor fan is quite sturdy and if your carefull as a last resort you can insert a screw driver into the motor side vent port to hold the motor with the fan. I've also had luck removing stuck screws by using a small impact or hammer drill to get a bolt initially free.

There is a small button on other side that locks the shaft.

Removing bolt
by: TRK

Sometimes if you will use an impact driver it will overcome the tendaancy of the blade to slip on the shaft.
I have one of these I would like to sell if anyone knows someone who trades in old tools.

change blade

I would use a piece of wood to wedge a tooth of blade against, and use an open end wrench
