This Delta 6 Inch x 48 Inch Belt Sander 1957 No. 1400 was an ideal unit for the machine shop, pattern shop, experimental department, asembly department, cabinet shop and furniture factory. It's also an ideal unit for the home wood shop. It does finishing; mitering, deburring, chamfering and other operations on both wood and metal.
Its outstanding features include: sealed-for-life ball bearings; adjustable dust deflector and dust sput on lower guard; completely enclosed or guarded drums and belt for utmost safety; adjustable platen that can be removed for free-hand finishing of odd shapes; removable upper guard for contour finishing on the idler drum.
A heavy trunnion carries the tlting table. Also shown is the swinging stop link and adjustable stop screws. Note the scale and sjustable pointer for accurate readings.
View of the No. 1403 Back Stop an dits bracket. The back stop is used for finishing flat work. It prevents the work from being carried away along with the belt.
The belt operates vertically, horizontally or at any degree in between. The work table can remain in level position while the belt is tilted to five a 45 degree or other angle finish.
There is also a convenient No. 1410 Wood Fence that supports large pieces. The adjustable deflector at the end of the hood catches practically all of the saw dust. The spout can be attached to a shop dust collecting system.
