Shaper with Delta 1 HP Repulsion Induction motor

by Greg Hawke
(Milwaukee, WI)

The shaper table is round. The whole unit as I received it was mounted on a wood platform (homemade). The shaper itself does not have any name or numbers, except for SF1 and SF2 and US pat. no. 1,947,885 on the fence. I would like to know if the shaper unit itself is a Delta.

The motor runs, but the way it was set up with the belt turned 90° and running on idler pulley, it would not go in to the induction phase. With the belt off, it runs good in LH direction. In the right hand direction it sits and hums, but will go if pulley is spun by hand. The commutator does not look so hot. Is it worth getting reworked?
