This is the planer next to the 8" tablesaw that I posted the pics of earlier. Also called Jointer.

Not a planer
by: Anonymous

A jointer ain't a planer and vice versa. A jointer (which is what you have) trues one edge or face of a board; a planer cuts a board to a uniform thickness.

I have the same jointer which I got working very nicely. Also missing the cutter guard. Probably not available unless you find another one of these machines. I plan on making one out of wood. Using it (carefully!) without a guard in the meantime.

I am looking for the instruction sheet on this 103.23340 model because I cannot get the crank to raise or lower the blade.

Ever find out year made
by: Barrontee79

Did you ever find out the year? I just acquired this model jointer along with a Craftsman Sears and roebuck benchsaw they called it back then. Tablesaw to me.. it's model no. 103.23834. they were mounted on a roll around box with switches hooked up to the electric motors and they both have all the accessories and the paper work still in the plastic.sleeves they called.e in. The amount of rust is unbelievable. Anyway just hunting information. Thanks

looking for info
by: paul

I have this planer along with the belt drive table saw. It was my fathers and everything is working except the elec. motor needs overhaul. Is there a value on something like this or do I just keep it for sentimental value. I remember my father working with this machine when I was little and now that he has passed and I am a carpenter like him I am looking up its history
