miter saw guide model 881.36303

I acquired this miter saw from an old friend when we were cleaning out his "shop", I had never seen one with the saw guides in front and in back, I would like to know how to adjust the heigth of the guides because I put my back saw into it and it barely reaches the back guides, I have no idea how old this is but it looks like it could be from the 60's
