Feb 19, 2017 It's a shaper... by: Uncle Lumpy It looks like your shaper was made in the late 1930s-1940s. I have one from the early 1950s that is quite similar. Cleaned up and properly maintained, it will serve you well, and can also be used as a jointer with the right cutter(s) in it. If you use the cutter set that has interchangeable blades, keep hands away from the scary spinning blades! The noise can be frightening the first time you start it up. Make sure you rotate the cutter by hand before starting the motor, to ensure the blades have clearance.
