Bailey Wood Planer

Bailey Wood Planer

My husband came across a wood planer with no markings on it whatsoever. From the research he's done, he says the wood on the knob on the front and the handle aren't rosewood, so he believes that it is dating back before 1920 or so. It is 9" long and 2 3/8" wide, with a 2" blade. The knob at the front (I realize I know no technical terms for the parts of this piece, sorry) is shorter than most he's seen, roughly 2.5 inches high and round. The ones he's seen have a taller more narrow knob. Any idea what this item is and its value?

Stanley Bailey No. 3 Plane
by: mike macdonald

I have a plane that looks exactly like yours. It bears the marking Stanley on the frog behind the front handle. I looked it up and found it to be a Stanley - Bailey #3. I have no idea as to value
