rockwell/delta homecraft shaper model number 45-122

i am having trouble removing the 1/4" spindle and replace it with a 1/2" spindle. i have loosened the small nut under the pulley on the spindle, but the upper component will the collet chuck will not come out. any help would be appreciated. this machine is similar to the Delta 43-110 shown in some of the photos on this site. thanks. tom balestreri
